Reinis spent a day with and gave an interview to lovely Margot.
Here is an insight:

Reinis is educated in Art from the Art Academy of Riga and gives lessons since september to almost 10 students. Drawing and painting for a long time, he confesses he passed by two different artistic periods. When he was younger, he was only interested in painting naked women and material things. But he got bored and was looking for something more spiritual.

“The technic has its importance to some point, but then, the feelings and what you convey through the painting become the most important” he explains me. He moved on to spiritual ideas and his last painting is about the soul of life and how to depict it.

His works are exposed in a gallery in Riga and a few months ago, he had the chance to come to France. Thanks to the ministery of Foreign Affairs, he stayed two months at an artist residency. His aim: to catch the mood of Paris.

New exhibition with Harijs Brants @ Alma

This art project is co-operated with one of the most serious latvian artist working in a drawing medium Harijs Brants. This Friday, at 19.00 pm Reinis Liepa and his co artist Dj Krii are going to take part in exhibition ” Sounds like art ” opening night event in Cesis, Latvia.

Last night, a lone thief broke into the Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and stole five paintings: Pablo Picasso’s Pigeon with Peas, Henri Matisse’s Pastoral, Georges Braque’s Olive Tree near Estaque, Amedeo Modigliani’s Woman with a Fan, and Fernand Leger’s Still Life with Chandeliers.

Reinis Liepa @ Museum Night 2010

Reinis was lecturing during the Museum Night 2010 ( Muzeju Nakts 2010) held at Arhitektu nams.

He was reading on topics such as art, his life and future plans. The event was part of annual Pecha Kucha programme.
